Music
This year the Festival International d’Art à Parisot will open with a classical music concert at the I’eglise de Parisot on Thursday 6th August at 7.00 pm. There will be a second concert on Friday 7th at the same time.
The lead musician is Timothy End, on piano, and is accompanied by two musicians on horn and cello. The concerts, which are  scheduled on two consecutive evenings, will provide a welcome start for the  3-day art festival.

 Art
The ‘motto’ of the Festival International d’Art à Parisot is the ‘appreciation and enjoyment of art in an everyday setting’. So at the heart of the festival is a range of art work which will be open to the public and will be available to purchase.
The Festival des Arts de Parisot enables artists to showcase their work to a wide ranging audience in a relaxing open air environment. Most importantly, it encourages a dialogue between artists and non-artists and offers the opportunity to exchange ideas about the nature, value and place of art in people’s lives.

On display throughout different venues in the village will be works by artists from many different areas of the world.  The works on display, all of which will be available to purchase at affordable prices, will include paintings, drawings, photographs and sculptures.  As well as abstract and figurative works there will also feature landscapes, portraits, and impressionist art and, what may loosely be called art brute.
Similar to the variety of paintings on offer, there will be different ranges of sculptures, including works in wood, metal, Zimbabwean stone, marble, as well as some with a combination of materials such as wood and iron.

The diversity, range and quality on offer at this year’s festival will astound you!

Children’s Art competition
The Festival International d’Art à Parisot children’s art competition returns this year to feature children’s paintings and drawings of an aspect of the Parisot village.
This popular contest will run from Friday 7 August until Sunday 9 August and is open from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm each day.
For the competition there will be three age categories: 2 to 6 years, 7 to 11 years and 12 to 16 years. There will be prizes awarded to the two best entries in each category.

The concept of the competition is to encourage children to walk around the village and decide freely on what to paint or draw. They can make sketches on site and have the option to complete their work elsewhere.
They must submit their work by 6.00 pm on Sunday 9th August, the last day of the festival.

Last year’s children’s competition was a great success and the standard of the entries was astonishingly high.  The judges were pleasantly surprised by the zeal of the participating children. Although most of the entries were paintings, there were some sketches in pencil and/or charcoal. There were also a number of children who opted to present their work in clay.

The 2009 competition promises to be even bigger and better than last year, so all children are welcome!  Materials for the contest will be provided free of charge.
